The Gauley River in West Virgina, the Upper Gauley section in particular is one of the top 10 sections of whitewater in the world. It only runs 22 days a year, starting the weekend after Labor Day and running Fri-Mon for 5 weekends followed by a Sat-Sun release for the base-jumping extravaganza known as Bridge Day. This trip features five class V rapids, the last of which, Sweet’s Falls is a 16ft. waterfall. The Upper Gauley is packed with rapids all day long and in my opinion the most ‘fun’ day of class V boating you can get anywhere in the country. Check out the link to North American River Runners to see all the trip options and request Jesse as your guide!
