The Arkansas River in Colorado is one of the most popular rafting rivers in the world. It has a wonderful diversity of whitewater from the Numbers, the most continuous class IV in the country to fun family class to easy float fishing. This, combined with guaranteed consistent summer flows makes the Upper Ark valley an awesome place to spend the summer! The summer flows all depend on snowpack and this year in 2011 we are at some of the highest snowpack percentages in decades. Check the Colorado snowpack link for more information (average Fremont Pass, Brumley, and Porphyry Creek on the Arkansas drainage for Upper Ark percentage). Pending the weather this spring this could mean either some really giant water or a very long sustained medium-high water period, who knows? Both options are great!
This year Four Corners Rafting combined with Buffalo Joe’s whitewater. Four Corners will be run from a new location in downtown Buena Vista, CO. I am really excited for the changes. We will be able to do a lot more as far as overnight options and STEAK LUNCH on every full-day, something I’ve envied for years. Visit the Buffalo Joe’s link to see the trip options and request Jesse as your guide!
