Remote Rescue – Wilderness First Aid

29 05 2011

As I mention in an earlier post I just spent three days in Canon City to recertify my Wilderness First Responder (WFR). Three years ago I took my original course with Remote Rescue, a small company started by Shoshanna and Jacob Sack from Durango. I was blown away by that first class! Shoshanna taught understanding instead of just procedure; a practical approach to what really happens in wilderness medical emergencies. After that first time I finally felt like I the confidence and knowledge to handle many emergencies that happenĀ  in the backcountry. I was very adamant about getting back in Shoshanna’s class for my refresher course. As expected, Shoshanna brought her plethora of outdoor medicine experience and recent years as an emergency room nurse to the table. The course did just as I thought it would, added confidence to my WFR knowledge base. Check out the link to Remote Rescue, I would highly recommend Shosh’s courses to anyone who actually wants to be able to use their WFR to the best of their ability in the wilderness!
